The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) is pleased to announce the election of its new leadership following the successful conclusion of its 4th Congress. This historic event, held in De Haan, Belgium from October 2nd to October 5th, showcased the organization’s commitment to solidarity, democracy, representation, and the advancement of domestic workers’ rights on a global scale.
The IDWF congress was a remarkable exercise in democratic participation, where official delegates from 88 domestic worker unions and organizations from 68 countries representing over 670,000 domestic workers from around the world gathered to discuss, deliberate, and make decision on the future direction of the Federation. Over 150 delegates engaged in important discussions around resolutions, constitutional amendments, objectives challenges, and demands to fully achieved domestic workers’ rights.
The Federation is thrilled to announce its elected Office Bearers:
- President: Carmen Britez, Argentina
- 1st Vice President: Toindepi Dhure, Zimbabwe
- 2nd Vice President: June Barrett, United States
- General Secretary: Adriana Paz Ramirez
The newly elected leadership brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the principles of the Federation in promoting the leadership domestic workers within the labor movement and in securing freedom, justice and recognition for their rights. They have pledged to build on the foundation laid by their predecessors and take IDWF’s work to new heights.
