68th Commission on the Status of Women

The 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), will take place from 11-22 March in a hybrid format with virtual and in-person parallel events. The UNCSW provides a unique opportunity for coalition-building with other trade unions and progressive organizations, and for influencing global policies on gender equality.

This year, the main theme is on Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective. As agreed in UNCSW63 conclusions, this year’s review theme is on Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) will be at CSW68, represented by a delegation of leaders from across the globe. Alongside fellow trade unionists, women’s rights advocates, and feminist movements, we’ll amplify our voices on critical issues, particularly within the care economy with the objective of influencing global policies on gender equality.

Join IDWF in our in-person parallel event on Centering Decent Work for Domestic Workers in the Care Economy on Tuesday, 19 March, 2024 at 2:30 PM. Location: CCUN 8th Floor
