IDWF affiliates in Asia has celebrated 6th anniversary of the adoption of ILO convention 189 on decent work for DWs.
We demand for Dignity and Decent work for All in every country.
2017 June 15-16: Bangladesh
National Domestic Women Workers Union (NDWWU) observed International Domestic Workers Day. NDWWU has taken two days programs. June 15, NDWWU organized a discussion meeting on ratifying C 189 immediately, and June 16, organized a rally. NDWWU also published poster on the occasion.

2017 June 16: India
National Platform for Domestic Workers (NPDW) partners and domestic workers in Delhi have submitted a Memorandum to Delhi government – Labor Minister, Shri Gopal Rai, asking him to notify the Minimum Wage notification and reconstitute the Committee (Which was constituted after the 16th June 2015 with the chairmanship of Bandana Kumari, Ex-Speaker of Delhi Assembly) and to work on the recommendations and draft prepared by the committee.
For Public awareness, the banner of International Domestic Workers Day was raised at the historic India Gate by domestic workers group under NPDW.

On the occasion of international Domestic Workers Day 2017, National Domestic Workers Federation (NDWF) & JGKU in Jharkhand jointly organized a state level Rally cum Demonstration in Ranchi.
The rally and Demonstration took place near to the Hon’ble Governor’s Office in Ranchi.

Gharelu Kaamgar Sangathan (GKS) Gurgaon organized a street play titled “Haq” (Rights) and a signature campaign programme in Sikanderpur Ghosi Gaon. It was to demand domestic workers rights and for passing a comprehensive National Legislation for domestic workers.
Around 200 people from the community and domestic workers came to see the event.

National Domestic Workers Movement NDWM-Maharashtra organized Rally and Public Meet as an International Domestic Workers Day programme.
Post Card campaign was launched during the Meet to demand the Government of Maharashtra for the amendment of Maharashtra Domestic Workers Welfare Board Act-2008 and to fix minimum wage for domestic workers.

2017 June 16: Philippines
To celebrate International Domestic Workers Day, UNITED had an activity at the Luneta park in manila. It was a picnic style program with members of DWs.
Members discussed about global and national situation of DWs and the background of c189 and the importance of it.
This discussion was followed by role play and games that connected to DWs situation and experience as DWs.

2017 June 16: South Korea
To commemorate the International Domestic Workers day, the Busan chapter of NHMC (National House Manager’s Cooperative), together with Busan Women’s Association, had a campaign to promote “Let’s write a contract” and “My Fair Home” campaign.
The members also urged government to legislate a law to protect labor rights for DWs and publicized their statement to show their concern on a bill which fails to protect to labor rights for DWs.

To celebrate International Domestic Workers Day 2017 – the 6th years of the establishment of Convention for Domestic Workers C189 – Unions come with the workers’ gathering, greeting workers with flowers: Happy Domestic Workers Day!
“It’s our day, it’s our day that shows domestic workers are workers, with dignity, and deserve rights as workers, as women, and as migrants.”
Hong Kong Federation of Asian Domestic Workers Unions (FADWU) calls for attentions and support for STANDARD WORKING HOURS, as the HK government announced that the new (but fake) working hours regulations will exclude Live-in domestic workers, including all migrant domestic workers and local live-in post-natal worker.

On 18 June 2017, Network of Domestic Workers in Thailand conducted a campaign on International Domestic Workers Day. They have promoted Application “Smart Domestic Workers” for Domestic workers as well as employers to know and understand the Ministerial Regulation No. 14, which protects Domestic Workers.
