Vicky Kanyoka has a long history working for IDWF and the global domestic workers’ movement since 2010, when our federation was a still a network. Since then, Vicky has led the African region together with our first President, Myrtle Witbooi, and together they have built the region into the largest one in IDWF with 28 affiliated unions in 28 countries.
“Mama Vicky”, as she is called by all domestic worker leaders, has earned respect for her dedication and the work she has done with our leaders, whom she has empowered and mentored. Over the years she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment and strong union ethics to elevate the power and representation of domestic workers on the ground. Vicky has also mentored colleagues and IDWF organizers in other regions.
