In Bangladesh, DWRN urges the government to ensure the rights of two million domestic workers

Domestic Workers’ Rights Network (DWRN) has organised the event at the office of Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) in the city’s Dhanmondi area to review the draft of Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy, 2015 prior to its approval. They were urging the government to ensure the rights of two million domestic workers of the country.

Domestic Workers’ Rights Network (DWRN) has organised the event at the office of Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) in the city’s Dhanmondi area to review the draft of Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy, 2015 prior to its approval.
Labour and employment secretary Mikail Shipar was present at the programme as the chief guest while Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, coordinator of DWRN, moderated its, says a press release.

The chief guest, in his speech, hinted that the draft policy titled ‘Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy, 2010’ may get approval by November this year.

Terming the policy as a primary step for formulation of a full law for domestic workers, speakers stressed the need for implementing the policy soon after its approval.
