In Loving Memory of Our Comrade Angela Clarke

With indescribable sadness, we say goodbye to our sister Angela Clarke, IDWF Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean. Her sudden passing has left our hearts broken and a void that will be hard to fill.

Angela joined our team in August last year, and from the very beginning, she brought joy, good vibes, and contagious energy wherever she went, with her unmistakable Jamaican spark. We first met her in person at a gathering in São Paulo, and it was love at first sight: within seconds, Angela had become one of us, as if she had always been there. So effortlessly and sincerely—like only a true sister in struggle can.

Spontaneous, vibrant, warm, powerful, committed… Words fall short when trying to describe who Angela was and what she meant to us in the short but precious time we shared together. We will miss her deeply.

The IDWF Executive Committee and staff send our heartfelt condolences to her family, her loved ones, and our fellow domestic workers in Jamaica and across the Caribbean. May you find the strength and peace needed to get through this difficult time. We are with you in full solidarity and love.

Angela’s farewell service will be held on July 5th at Berean Church of God Kencot, 22 Southroad, Kingston 10. We welcome all who wish to join us in honoring her inspiring life.

Angela would surely want us to send her off with a song of hope, not sorrow—a song that reflects the way she gave so much of herself to others: “Live for yourself and you will live in vain; live for others, and you will live again.”

We carry with us your eternal smile and the blessing of having known you, dearest Angela. Rest in love. You will always be with us!
