Paid Domestic Workers Are Care Workers: They Have the Right to Care, to Be Cared For, and to Self-Care

A new report by Brazil’s Ministry of Social Development, Family, and the Fight Against Hunger, conducted in partnership with the International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), reveals that despite the essential contribution of paid domestic workers to the care economy in Brazil, they remain one of the most precarious groups in the labor market, with high levels of informality, low social protection coverage, and serious decent work deficits.
