ACV Food and Services, Belgium

I am Pia Stalpaert, serving as the President of ACV Food and Services since April 2011. Preceding this, I held the position of National Secretary within my Union from 2008 to 2011. Prior to that, I served as the Regional Secretary from 1994 to 2008. Over a span of 12 years, I assumed the role of spokesperson and held responsibility for Domestic Workers at the National level. My involvement extended to being part of the Belgian negotiation team in Geneva during the ILO C189 negotiations in 2011.

ACV Food and Services holds the distinction of being a founding member of the IDWF, and we’ve maintained a consistent presence in the Executive Committee of the IDWF since 2016. Throughout my career, and aligned with ACV Food and Services’ priorities, addressing the conditions of Domestic Workers has remained a paramount focus.

In my role as the President of ACV Food and Services, I am eager to contribute my diverse range of expertise to the IDWF. My proficiency spans across leadership, financial management, human resources, effective communication, fundraising, due diligence, and ensuring that the IDWF’s strategic and political decisions are in perfect alignment with the expectations of Domestic Workers in all regions.

Aware of the situation in which the IDWF finds itself, I am committed to addressing key challenges. Sustainability stands as a major concern for the Federation, alongside the imperative of bolstering regional representation. Within the realm of trade unions, my foremost priority is driving the ratification and effective implementation of C189.

Additionally, I aim to tackle issues pertaining to migration, the role of Care in our society, and the overarching Health and Safety standards for all Domestic Workers. Leveraging my leadership role within my union, I am enthusiastic about sharing my substantial leadership experience with the IDWF’s Executive Committee and dedicated staff. This collaborative effort is geared towards realizing our shared objectives.

As president of my union, I had the support of my fellow officers and the executive committee of ACV Food and Services. This collective support enables me to take on this role and the responsibilities it entails within the IDWF.
