The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) seeks an experienced labour educator to set up the first ever IDWF online education on tackling gender-based violence against domestic workers. The online education will enable learnings and exchanges of domestic workers (in Asia as a start) so that they have the necessary knowledge and information on gender-based violence and can provide training for their fellow workers. 

Overall Role: 

  • By using the IDWF DWoVH Trainers Manual: Domestic Workers Organize against Violence and Harassment, the consultant will set up the online education and be responsible for its sound delivery. 

The Online Education Course will include the following units:

  • Start and Introductions
  • Equality and Rights in Work and in Life   
  • What is Violence and Harassment in Domestic Work
  • Protecting Ourselves against Violence and Harassment
  • Collective Actions against Violence and Harassment 
  • Laws, Policies and Practices against Violence and Harassment 
  • Follow-up and Evaluation of Training

The tasks includes:

  1. Work with the Manual’s writing team and IDWF officers to select contents and develop the storyboards for the 7 online training units, based on the IDWF draft DWoVH Trainers’ Manual,  

  1. Develop the necessary online training and promotional materials for the course (infographics, power points and others), and post the materials on the IDWF online education website. (Training on the use of relevant software will be provided by the IDWF.)

  1. Implement the course:   Promote the course among IDWF affiliates and partner organizations, moderate the course, identifying gaps and needs of the participants and provide support and other remedial actions for their active participation of the course, and do follow-up with the participants with activities as agreed with the IDWF team. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a labour educator and activist with interest/experience working on labour, women, and human rights, who is committed to educating and empowering workers online and offline with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Has excellent communication in English (written and spoken).
  • Has excellent computer and social media skills and is motivated and interested to develop online education and training skills
  • Has significant experience in developing labour education curriculum and training materials.
  • Showcases commitment to worker, women, and human rights.
  • Ability to work with a diverse and international group of staff and affiliates.

This consultancy is full time work 40 hours weekly for a 6 months period, with possibility of extension if necessary and funds available.
