Malaysia -

The Indonesia migrant domestic workers in Malaysia finally formed their own organization – the Persatuan Pekerja Rumah Tangga Indonesia Migran (PERTIMIG) in December 2019 and became operational this year with 90 domestic workers in 2020.

This is the second organization of migrant domestic workers after the formation of AMMPO by the Filipino migrant domestic workers in the country.  Their successful formation gives powerful testimony to the world that nothing can stop domestic workers to organize for change.

Malaysia until today does not cover domestic workers in its labour legislation and migrant domestic workers are prohibited to organize.
