INDIA -

When the Government of India responded to the ILO "Brown" Report, it proposed a few changes to the language.  To the delight of domestic workers throughout the globe, the Indian government indicated its support of the ILO Domestic Worker Convention supplemented by a Recommendation.

The Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA) participated in Indian union meetings on the ILO "Brown" Report.  Nalini Nayak, the SEWA delegate at this year's ILC, reported that participants unanimously agreed on a handful of corrections/amendments.

Karin Pape, IDWN International Coordinator, expressed the hope that other governments in Asia would follow the example of the Indian government and support the ILO Convention.
