The National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) Maharashtra made a sample survey to assess the impact of covid crisis on Domestic Workers. The analysis report and our demands were presented to the press during the Press Conference organised by the State Platform for Domestic Workers. We have launched signature campaign in the areas. The signature will be submitted by the delegation to all the District Collectors and the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) where NDWM Maharashtra is operating.

Under the COVID-19, Migrant Domestic Workers suffer from different difficulties, such as discrimination and unfair treatment. The survey objective is that we want to know more about their situations, feelings, and knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, specifically related to COVID-19. FADWU has collected the anonymous questionnaire and understands more about the situation of migrant domestic workers.

We are outraged to learn of a recent case involving extreme abuse and exploitation of a 44-year-old Indonesian domestic worker in Malaysia rescued by Manjung police in 11th May 2020. The worker is suspected of being locked up and fed with food scraps, and had not been paid salary in the last two years by her employer, a 48-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter. The case is being investigated under Section 12 Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti- Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM).

"The Price of Justice" exposes how migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong face a range of administrative and financial obstacles when filing a claim against their employer at the conciliation service, Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board (MECAB) or Labour Tribunal. The most common claims were in relations to their wages, food and travelling allowance, and flight ticket home.
