
Hong Kong: Actions of the domestic workers on the International Migrants Day

HONG KONG -
Different domestic workers groups organized lots of action today on 16 Dec 2012, in celebration of International Migrants Day and demand for protection on domestic workers. FADWU (Hong Kong Federation of Asian Domestic Workers Unions), comprising of local and migrant domestic workers unions in different nationalities went to all consulates (Thai, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines), China Liason Office and Hong Kong government to demand for ratification of C189 and handed petition letters.

Another group of migrants, AMCB (Asian Migrants Coordinating Body) organized a rally to Hong Kong government to demand for protection.
Indonesian domestic workers, hundreds of them protested in front of the Consulate of Indonesia in Hong Kong with the Alliance of Indonesian workers to revoke UU 39.
