CAMBODIA -

Cambodian domestic worker in Malaysia back home with salary claimed with the help of DW organization.

Ms. Phrum Thy, 41 years old, had been working as domestic worker in Malaysia since May 25, 2010 through Human Resource Development (HRD) Recruitment Agency. When her labour contract was finished on 25, 2012, the Agency in Malaysia did not allow her to come back home. On June 3, 2013 her brother, Mr. Phrum Thea, sought help from Cambodia Domestic Workers Network (CDWN) and IDEA.

IDEA-CDWN lodged negotiations with HRD agency several times and also called to Thy's employer in Malaysia. They filed a complaint to Ministry of Labour. Finally On Aug 21, 2013, Ms. Phrum Thy came back home safety and with her salary about USD5,000.

She was very happy when she could come back to homeland finally. She will share information of her experience to other workers who want to be migrant workers in the CDWN's workshop.
