What is this Webinar about?

The ILO Domestic Workers Convention C189 is now 10 years old!

As we gather in celebration of this jubilee marking the rigor and strength of the domestic workers movement, we look back at the victories we had, alliances made, and the work that must still be done, 10 years later.

This event reflects on the ways we mobilized for C189 and using C189:

❓ How are domestic workers and allied organizations working to ensure decent work for domestic workers, mostly women, disproportionately suffering from labor violations due to the informal and/or invisible nature of work?

❓ How are domestic workers connecting this international standard to grassroots organizing and decentralized governance, in contexts where ratification is difficult, and in contexts where implementation is faulty?

❓ What are our demands?

The program features speeches of our leaders, launch of the C189 10 Year Report, Guest Speakers from WIEGO, IUF, and the ILO, a workers’ panel, and the launch of IDWF Domestic Workers’ Calendar.
