Labour inspection and other compliance mechanisms in the domestic work sector
Contributors: ILO Labour Administration, Labour Inspection and Occupational Safety and Health Branch (LABADMIN/OSH)
Making decent work a reality for domestic workers requires sustained efforts to ensure compliance with labour protections. This guide illustrates how countries have defined policies and practices to ensure compliance and decent working conditions in domestic work, with a specific focus on the role of labour inspectorates. It provides practical information on how to address non-compliance issues, better shape actions of relevant institutions (in particular labour inspectorates) and put the laws protecting domestic workers into practice.
