KUDHEIHA/Solildarity Center Workshop Report on Sensitizing KUDHEIHA Board Members on the National Domestic Workers Council on 11 – 12 January 2016

The National Domestic workers council was launched on 20th November 2015 in Nairobi at The Sarova Stanley Hotel. The branches that participated on this very important day were Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nyeri, Eldoret and Kakamega. Only the branch Secretaries of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu were present. Several stake holders were present but due to the limitation of resources, not the entire Kudheiha workforce would be present for this very important occasion.

The National Domestic workers council has been in place from the time of its launch, and it was very important to be owned by the National Board of Kudheiha. Present in these meeting were the three principles of the National domestic Workers Council, (Chairperson, Assistant Chairperson, the Secretary and member).   

Some of the Topics Discussed included Strategies for Ratification of Convention 189, Organizing, Record keeping and networking in order to sustain a vibrant Domestic workers sector.  It was very vital to have this workshop which resulted in full ownership of The National Domestic workers council by The National Board of Kudheiha.

 The National Domestic workers council officials were introduced to the members of the National board who congratulated them for their positions and assured them total support. The National board of Kudheiha assured the National Domestic workers council officials of total commitment in supporting domestic workers and their activities Country wide, regionally and globally.
