Migrant domestic workers in the Netherlands are facing discrimination in the labour law due to their migration status. The Coronavirus has exposed some of them to the termination of their contracts, unpaid and unprotected.

Still a Long Way to Go to Abolish Kafala in Lebanon: the Standard Unified Contract for domestic workers may be the first step!
On September 8, 2020, Acting Minister of Labour in Lebanon, Lamia Yammine issued the revised Standard Unified Contract (SUC) for Migrant Domestic Workers. This step is the product of several efforts by domestic worker and labor organizations coordinated by the ILO calling for their rights.

In Mozambique, SINED Continues to fight for the C189 Ratification under the COVID-19
In September 18, 19 and 20, Thirty domestic workers of the Sindicato Nacional dos Empregados Domésticos (SINED) participated in the seminar in Manputo to set the best strategies to achieve the ratification of the Convention 189 Decent work for Domestic workers.

The network is a grassroots organization consisting of domestic workers community leaders from the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uganda and many more.

This is the result of continuous organizing, trust building and leadership formation since 2014 with the Solidarity Centre playing a vital role.
