DOMESTIC WORKERS AT THE FRONT-LINES
The worsening economic and political situation in Lebanon exacerbated by the implications of COVID-19 in the country has placed migrant domestic workers in a tough situation. The IDWF joined a group of organizations working with migrants in signing a letter sent to the General Security office asking them to waive penalties and speed up the repatriation process.
The document is in Arabic and says the following:

We are raising this now as a result of the deteriorating economic situation that has resulted in almost total unemployment for this group that is now unable to sustain its daily needs. Also, the alarming increased number of homelessness will require immediate urgent action.

We ask you to take direct action to exempt domestic workers seeking repatriation from any fines and put in place a repatriation plan that considers the current living and economic situation the country is going through.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
Jamaica Household Workers' Union (JHWU)
Our affiliate Jamaica Household Workers' Union (JHWU) is doing monumental work with relief distribution during COVID-19. They inspire resilience and remind us that:

"In this difficult time we the Domestic Worker leaders in the Caribbean are asking all Domestic Workers to stay focus, stay safe and stay strong. We are also calling on government across the Caribbean to protect domestic workers Rights. Ratify convention 189 and convention 190. Domestic work is work like all other work. Please Care for those who care for you as injustice to one is injustice to all."
