1.1/ MENA civil society consultation on the Global Compact on Migration, Beirut, August 24 to 25.

Marie-José Tayah, Regional Coordinator for MENA participated alongside migrant domestic workers leaders in the country. She led the thematic tracks on labour migration and recruitment >>>

1.2/ The UN sixth thematic session of the UN Global Compact for Migration: "Irregular migration and regular pathways, including decent work, labour mobility, recognition of skills and qualifications and other relevant measures", Geneva, October 12 and 13.

Vicky Kanyoka, Regional Coordinator for Africa called for end to the Kafala System in the employment of migrant domestic workers >>>

1.3/ ILO Interregional Consultation on Labour Migration and Mobility from Asia/Africa to the Middle East on October 4 and 5.

IDWF participated at the consultation in Beirut, Lebanon focusing on fair recruitment, decent work, addressing irregularity and governance of labour migration >>>

1.4/ Fish Ip, IDWF Regional Coordinator spoke at the 10th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) in Manila, Oct 25 and 26 providing inputs for the adoption of a set of Recommendations by the AFML calling on governments to adopt national plans to ratify C189. A conference statement adopted by the participants of the IDWF-MFA Regional Conference organized prior to the AFML was submitted >>>
