The findings show that the inequitable access, opportunity and resources- as well as repressive cultural traditions and norms – constrain the ability of domestic worker in study area.

IDWF wins SOLIDAR Silver Rose Award for organizing international solidarity
— by IDWFmember — last modified Jan 19, 2017 05:50 PMThe International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) has been nominated for the Silver Rose Award in the category ‘Organising International Solidarity’ by SOLIDAR Member International Federation of Workers’ Education Associations (IFWEA) for their achievements to build a strong, democratic and united domestic/household workers global organization to protect and advance domestic workers’ rights everywhere. The global organisation based in Hong Kong believes that domestic work is work and all domestic and household workers deserve to enjoy the same rights as all other workers. It’s the only international trade union federation led by women. It aims to organise a united, international voice for domestic workers and, on a local level, to build collective strength to ensure rights of domestic workers. Their Secretary General, Elizabeth Tang, will attend the Silver Rose Awards ceremony in Brussels on Wednesday June 3rd to accept the award.

Labour Minister of Delhi Gopal Rai, Deputy Speaker Bandana Kumari and Parliamentary Secretary Naresh Yadav were present. The Labour Minister has made commitment to constitute a committee to look into the issues of domestic workers across the city.
