- National Domestic Workers Union (SINACTRAHO) held its founding congress on August 30 with the aim of representing and defending the labor rights of Mexico’s estimated 2.3 million domestic workers. CACEH, the domestic worker support and training center, has been organizing domestic workers towards this goal and celebrated its 15th Anniversary on September 10.

National Domestic Workers Union (SINACTRAHO) held its founding congress on August 30 with the aim of representing and defending the labor rights of Mexico’s estimated 2.3 million domestic workers. Approximately 100 domestic workers from Puebla, Colima, Chiapas, Mexico City and the State of Mexico approved the creation of the union, their statutes and elected the executive committee.

They also decided to set up a general secretariat consisting of three domestic workers: Marcelina Bautista Bautista, Ana Laura Gaspar Aquino and Esperanza Morales Martha Leal. CACEH, the domestic worker support and training center, has been organizing domestic workers towards this goal and celebrated its 15th Anniversary on September 10, a date that was celebrated with the founding of SINACTRAHO and attended by Juanita Flores and Jill Shenker from the United States, and IDWF General Secreatry, Elizabeth Tang.
