Month of June being the month to observe International Domestic Workers' Day and Anti-Child Labour Day, Maharastra Region of NDWM organized several programmes to mark those days. Following are the highlights of the programmes:
International Domestic Workers' Day
- On 20 June we organized International Domestic Workers' Day Event. To mark the Day we had rally and Public Meet.
The dignitaries who addressed the domestic workers were:
Dr. Mr. Sanjeevji Naik (Member of Parliament-Thane, Maharashtra),
Mr. M.A. Patil (President Sarv Sharmik Sangh, Maharashtra State Minimum Wage Committee Member),
Sr. Jeanne Devos (Founder: National Domestic Workers Movement,
Mr. Uday Bhat (Member of Maharashtra Rajiya Gharelu Kamgar Kalyan Mandal),
Ms. Neelatai Limaye (Gen. Secretary Maharashtra Mahila Parishad),
Smt. Shrin Lokhande (Asst. Labour Commissioner, Mumbai).

Anti-Child Labour Day
- Child Advisory Committee members comprising of child domestic workers, children of domestic workers and children rescued from domestic work launched a campaign in the Railway Stations to collect signature from the public and get public opinion on their role to stop child labour.
- On 12 June the children met the Labour Minister and submitted the signatures and the public opinion they gathered. The Minister assured his support to look into the issue of child labour.
- The children from Advisory Committee gave training to the Animators of Maharastra Domestic Workers Movement and the Leaders of Maharstra Rajya GharKamlar union. The children dealt with the topics on child right, child participation, stages of participation, need of child participation. It was astonishing to see the children enabling the participants to understand the concept through games, group discussions and songs.
