Late last week the delegation visited a Modelama factory that supplies the clothing chain Gap. The workers have been organizing a staff union — the first in the region. Not long ago, the company fired 16 of the union leaders for trying to organize the union and the workers have been holding a vigil outside of the factory ever since.
NDWA joined the vigil and were moved by the courage and the leadership of the garment workers who are risking their jobs to stand up for recognition, rights and dignity at work.
Feb 28th, the Indian court will hear the case to recognize the union and we want to show our support for their courage. Will you send an email to Gap executives letting them know that we are watching from all over the world and demanding they must push Modelama to reinstate the workers?
Emailing just takes a moment and it will send a clear message to Gap and to these courageous workers. Click here to send your email.
