Kids to Trump: Stop Deportations!

The National Domestic Workers Alliance was one of the main organizers for a kids caravan and week of action for immigrant rights. When elected officials in Miami-Dade county turned their backs on immigrant families, local children and youth refused to back down. So 40 black and Latino youth rode from Miami to Washington, DC to demand that elected leaders stand up to Trump’s bullying and defend their families, their friends and their future. Throughout the journey, they met with youth rising up in communities across the Southeast.  When the Caravan arrived in Washington DC on April 13th, hundreds of youth created an unbreakable circle of unity to show Trump that we will not stop fighting until our families, our friends, and our future are safe.

Domestic worker Juliet and her eight-year-old daughter Summer, joined the caravan from New York. “I am going to DC to stand up for equal and human rights for my mom and other families. These rights look like fair pay, peace in our communities, and families staying together,” Summer said, adding she was afraid her mother could be deported.

Domestic Worker Trafficking on Network TV

This season, ABC’s show American Crime introduced its viewers to Gabrielle, a nanny trapped in a situation of forced labor and human trafficking. We know these situations are too common among domestic workers.  The National Domestic Worker’s Alliance Beyond Survival campaign focuses on amplifying the voices of trafficked domestic workers. The show is an amazing opportunity to lift up the voices of domestic workers in popular culture, so we hope you’ll join the conversation and share your stories on on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtags #BeyondSurvival and #AmericanCrime.
