On January 9 2016, "The Corts" of Valencia, which is the main legislative body of Valencia, decided to ratify the ILO domestic workers Convention 189.

There are good news from Valencia, Spain. On January 9 2016, "The Corts" of Valencia, which is the main legislative body of Valencia, decided to ratify the ILO domestic workers Convention 189.

With this ratification the council of the city, unanimously agreed to urge the state government to comply with the international standard of C 189. This is a big step forward for the rights and dignity of domestic workers in Spain.

Read the press release from the Spanish union Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras (CCOO), which is part of the "Platform for the rights of domestic workers in Valencia". Their joint efforts led to this success.
