In June, the First Latin American and Carribean Forum on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Labor Inclusion was held in Managua, Nicaragua.

The Nicaragua Domestic Workers Federation and the Nicaragua Transgedner Domestic Workers Union were among the host committee. We discussed how discrimination against the LGBTQI community is so normalized that it’s rarely identified or studied. There is no research or data about the labor activity, labor violations, or economic contributions of the LGBTQI community in Latin America. But from workers stories, we know, for example, that LGBTQI workers experience invasive vetting during hiring.
