Field Organizer
The IDWF aims to build a strong, democratic and united domestic/household workers global organization to protect and advance domestic workers’ rights everywhere. The IDWF is currently recruiting a field organizer to organize Indonesian domestic workers in Malaysia and Singapore.
The organizer has the following roles and responsibilities
- To reach out to Indonesian domestic workers and build contacts;
- To form Indonesian domestic workers union or members-based organization;
- To facilitate workers’ activities specifically leadership training and education, team building, awareness raising and outreaching.
- To work with supporting organizations on case handling and advocacy.
Requirements
- Place of work: based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with travels to Singapore
- Good command of oral and written Bahasa Indonesia and English
- Good communication skills
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Support and be committed to workers and women rights
- Good knowledge of migrants’ issue and local country context would be an advantage.
- Experience in organizing workers into unions or members-based organizations
- Produce progress reports on a timely basis
Working hours
- 5 days per week (total 40 hours), working in the evenings, at night time and on Sundays is required.
