C189 WATCH - A note on governments' report to ILO

For countries who has ratified C189, the governments must submit a "FIRST REPORT" to the ILO Committee of Experts twelve months after the Convention has entered into force when it has 2 ratifications (Art 21, C189), i.e. Sep 2013.

Then the country must continue reporting EVERY FIVE YEARS after that.

The government reports are reviewed by the ILO Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations  (CEACR, or Committee of Experts)

CEACR reviews the reports, it makes two kinds of comments: observations, which are dealing with substantial issues, and direct requests, which are more technical questions.

  • Reports submitted by countries are confidential. But comments by CEACR are publicly available. We can search for them HERE >>>
  • Report from Uruguay is already reviewed and the comments are HERE >>>
