The workshop was attended by unions’ representatives from various states, as well as representatives of the CUT, Juneia Batista and Rita Pinheiro; from labour lawyers, Dr. Aristeo and Dr. Marcela, and the lawyer, Milena Calazans, FENATRAD’s legal advisor. There were 32 participants in total.
Participation: 26 unions/organizations affiliated to IDWF & CONLACTRAHO; 43 Domestic workers leaders from 15 countries.
On 12 March 2019, the International Domestic Workers Federation and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, along with co-hosts the Ford Foundation and Open Society Foundations, will host a screening of ROMA. The screening will be preceded by a reception and short panel discussion with domestic worker leaders from around the world about the resonant power of the film, and opportunities to join in their fight to win new protections for this long-invisible workforce.
Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, the International Domestic Workers Federation, CARE and UN Women will host an interactive panel to showcase means and public policies to advance the rights of domestic workers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The 15th Congress of the Filcams Cgil Nazionale was held in Assisi, Italy from 27 to 29 November, 2018.
ACLI COLF had a two-day Assembly in Rome from Nov 24-25.
This year we celebrated Domestic Workers' Dday with the slogan "Safe Workplace is Our Rights". SEWA Union Kerala organised big event on June 18 at Trivandrum the state head quarters. Around 700 domestic workers particpated in the rally and public meeting. It was inaugurated by the union Secretary Ms. Sonia George.
The “Domestic Workers and Convention 189: Making it real!” workshop took place in Nairobi, June 14-17, 2018. On the 16th, a press conference was held to mark International Domestic Workers Day in support of Kenyan workers’ demand for the Government to ratify Convention 189.
