EL SALVADOR -
IDWF co-sponsored convening in El Salvador on Migration and Domestic Work that brought together domestic worker unions, organizations and migrant rights organizations from Central America, Mexico, and the US.
The convening was co-created between IDWF, Solidarity Center (Central America), We Belong Together, and CONLACTRAHO (the Confederation of Latin American and Caribbean Household Workers). In preparation for the convening, a study was commissioned by GMIES.
The goals of the convening were to bring together domestic worker organizations and migrant rights organizations from the region to:
-
Deepen our understanding of migration in relation to domestic work
-
Develop relationships between our organizations to be able to collaborate on these issues
-
Develop next steps to better organize and advocate for the rights of migrant domestic workers
- Use the international presence in El Salvador to help advocate for the ratification of C189
