CAMBODIA -

On Human right Day (10 Dec) Solidarity house and other partners (CDWN, CWMO, CICA, CYN, CTSWF, CFSWF, CWCD CCFC and IDEA marched from Solidarity house to Ministry of labor. They were a group of domestic workers, factory workers, Tuk Tuk (motorcycles) drivers and workers from other areas.

Around 300 of them gathered in front of Independent Democracy of Informal Economy Association (IDEA) with the attempt to march toward Ministry of Labour in order to celebrate the International Human Rights Day.

They planned to submit the petition to call for the government to ratify the ILO convention No 189 and better treatment for domestic workers. However, they faced lots of harrassment from the police and authorities. They gathered at 7:00am and started to rally to Ministry of Labor. Then they were stopped by around 20 policemen after they rallied for 300 meters.

They could not move for around two hours until the authorities allowed them to go to the Ministry of Labour only by Tuk Tuk, not walking on foot. When they could arrive at the Ministry of Labour, only 10 representatives were allowed to be inside the Ministry of Labour to submit the petition, even media or HR observers were not allowed to be inside the fence of Ministry.
