BUKINA FASO -
In October 18 and 19 of this year the IDWF hosted a workshop in Burkina Faso with over 35 participants in Africa to set goals for the community network in Africa.
The group decided on the following actions:
Create a brochure on the IDWF communication network explaining its functions and use.
Share activity updates and news for a monthly IDWF e-bulletin, including information on:
|1. Name of Union||2. Name of Representative|
|3. Country||4. Activity|
|5. Why the activity is important||6. What impact/difference the activity makes|
|7. Who and how many participated||8. Photo|
The participants said they are interested in learning more about wages of other domestic workers, conditions of work such as legislation, strategies to fight for domestic workers rights, and best practices for building strong organizations.
To answer these questions, the online network will build a database of wages and working conditions of domestic workers in each country and territory. This database will allow domestic workers to learn about conditions in other countries.
To begin creating the database, Affiliates must start collecting information on:
|Conditions of Work:||Wages (monthly, weekly, hourly)|
|1. Hours of Work per week||1. Wages (in local currency and in US dollars)|
|3. Maternity and Paternity Leave|
|4. Sick Leave|
|5. Medical Aid/Insurance|
|6. Pension or Provident Fund|
|7. Unemployment Insurance|
Affiliate representatives and coordinators will receive training on the community network in 2015.
