2014 Dec 10, National Domestic Women Workers Union organised Day long hunger strike on observing the International Human Rights Day at in front of the National Press Club, Dhaka, Bangladesh. More than 50 domestic workers took part in the hunger strike with the demand of quick approval of the draft of "Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy 2010", ratification of ILO Convention 189 and inclusion of the domestic workers in the national labour laws.

Hunger Strike of NDWWU


National Domestic Women Workers Union organised Day long hunger strike on observing the International Human Rights Day at in front of the National Press Club, Dhaka, Bangladesh on 10th December 2014.

More than 50 domestic workers took part in the hunger strike with the demand of quick approval of the draft of "Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy 2010", ratification of ILO Convention 189 and inclusion of the domestic workers in the national labour laws.

The National Trade Union Federations, Human Rights organisations and may other professional expressed their solidarity to the demand of the domestic workers.

NDWWU Advisor Mr. Abul Hossain was the Chief Guest, Mrs. Murshida Akter Nahar, General Secretary conducted the day long program and Mrs. Anjuara Begum presided over the program. On behalf of the Domestic Workers Rights Network- DWRN Adv. Nazrul Islam has given solidarity speech in this hunger strike.

Poster Campaign of DWRN


DWRN published a poster mentioning with the slogan "Protect Human Rights in every day, in every house: Include domestic workers in the labour law and ratify the ILO Convention 189 to protect the migrant domestic workers" and widely circulated by the domestic workers themselves in the different places of Dhaka city area.

The Organizers along with her 4 members team hanged the poster in their areas. DWRN observed the International Human Rights Day on 10 December '14 with this poster campaign program as this year's theme of 10 December was "Human Rights 365".
